“Thwarted By Satan” – 1 Thessalonians 2:17-20
6/12/16 Message “Thwarted by Satan” @ https://youtu.be/zoP0BT7f2PA
Who is Satan? Satanas – An adversary, oppose, prince of the fallen angels (Matt 4:10; Mk 1;13). (diabolos) devil. One who casts himself or something between two in order to separate them. Used collectively for evil spirits or devils (Matt 12:26; Mk 3;23, 26; Lk 11;18). Applied by Jesus to Peter’s joining with Satan for opposing God’s divine plan for man’s redemption through Christ’s sufferings and death (Matt 16:23; Mk 8:33).
Has something ever stopped you from doing the Lord’s work? Thwarted – (egkopto) hindered, to impede a persons course by cutting off his way, or to cut into (Rom. 1:13; 15:22).
The LORD Will Rebuke Satan! Joshua – The Lord Saves (Zechariah 3:1-7). According to the law (Ps.109:6), standing at the right side was the place of accusation. A believers defender is the LORD Himself. Israel, God’s sovereign choice (Rom 8:33), was snatched from the fire of Babylonian captivity, delivered from Egypt (Jer. 11:4), and will be rescued from the coming tribulation (Zech 13:8-9; Rev 12;13-17).
Life Lesson – As a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ, you must depend on Him for everything that you accomplish in connection with your mission; whether word (gospel – Isaiah 52:15) or deed. You will be confronted by God’s adversary, the prince of evil, to incite apostasy from God to sin. Satan is the accuser of all believers (Rev 12:10), hoping that God will irrevocably reject His people. This God will never do! By His assistance the devil is overcome.
6/5/16 Message “Not In Vain” 1 Thessalonians 2:1-2 @ https://youtu.be/4HB94A7AddA
Have you ever felt like you just wasted your time for nothing?
Vain – (Kenos) empty, devoid of truth, destitute of spiritual wealth, without the fruits of faith, labor that results in nothing, without effect, fruitless.
Labored in Vain?
1 Thessalonians 3:5 - The Apostle Paul wanted to know if the tempters solicitations were successful among the Thessalonians. If so, the work of Paul and his colleagues would be useless.
What is God Doing?
Job 39:13-18 – Some things seem odd or strange to us. Imagine a flightless bird that runs faster than many birds can fly, is the largest land animal with 360 degree vision eyes the size of billiard balls, can reach 9-1/2 feet tall and weigh as much as 350 pounds. Has powerful, long legs that can cover 10 to 16 feet (3 to 5 meters) in a single stride that are formidable weapons that can kill a human or a potential predator like a lion with a kick.
Life Lesson – The work you do for the Lord must be real and courageous. No sufficient obstacle or threat exists to prevent you from speaking the gospel message. With the help of the Lord, you’ll be able to develop the courage to speak His word boldly in the midst of difficult and or dangerous circumstances. The Apostle Paul, after being beaten, stripped, flogged, treated like a dangerous fugitive, jailed, and placed in prison in stocks, developed the courage do the Lord’s work. You may not understand what the Lord is up to, but if you are sure He’s leading you, just do it.
